Shropshire pupils stretch their legs during Walk to School Week

Pupils from Morville Primary School in Morville took to their local streets this week to kick start National Walk to School Week.

Among their walking activities, two classes of children were invited to discover more about what’s on their doorstep, thanks to local housebuilder DBA Homes.

The luxury home developer invited the children, aged 5-9 years of age to walk to its nearby development Haughton Grange, learn about the construction of new homes before being given a guided tour of the five-bedroom show home.

On walking around, gasps of ‘oooh’, ‘wow’ and ‘I want this bedroom’ echoed around the property as children decided on their favourite room of the house.

Following the tour, the children were set a challenge by the housebuilder to design their own bedroom on paper.

DBA Homes managing director Andy Timbrell said that working with the local community is extremely important to them as a business.

“We had wanted to work with the school for a number of months and decided that Walk to School Week would be the perfect fit. The children were a delight from start to finish and we were pleased that they were able to stretch their legs to come and see us and put their artistic skills to the test.”

Mr Sharp, head of school at Morville Primary School said: “The children had a wonderful time and it was such a nice outing for them during this important walking week. We’d like to thank DBA Homes for the opportunity and hope that our pupils do the company proud with their drawings.”
